We hope everyone is staying safe and well and looking forwards to a staged return to normality over the next few months.

Please see below key dates and details surrounding the gradual re-opening of the Tyneside Badminton Centre. Note that all guidelines are subject to possible changes in policy by the Government. All customers must conform to the COVID -19 protocols in place at the centre (e.g. face masks, hand sanitising, changing facilities, one-way systems, social distancing etc.). Please note also that the centre is open to spot checks from both the Police and Public Health England, with fines of £200 being levied for non-compliance.

5th April: You a can start to make bookings

If you wish to speak to a member to make a booking, you can do so by ringing 0191 241 5385 1-4pm on any day Monday 5th April to Sunday 11th April. At other times during this week the centre is closed, but booking requests can be made by email (enquiries@tynesidebadmintoncentre.co.uk) or by telephone answering machine. In both cases leave a contact telephone number so we can finalise the booking.  We will respond within 24 hours at the latest to take payment. Bookings are only available for:

  • Adults and juniors from the same household (proof and/or legally binding declaration required)
  • Juniors (18 and under) – mixed households ok
  • Sharks/Smashers Junior sessions on Saturday afternoons – on-line booking available from 5th April

Users are required to:

  • Arrive wearing masks and keep masks in place whilst in public areas of the building (reception and corridors). These can be removed once in your designated playing area
  • Arrive changed and ready for play – we provide toilets but not changing areas at present
  • Sanitise your hands (hand sanitiser available at reception and throughout the centre)
  • Avoid spending times in public areas (e.g. reception)
  • Arrive by reception and leave via the designated exits (not back through reception)
  • Maintain a social distance of 2 metres from other users

12th April – 18th April

The centre is open for adults/juniors from the same household, and juniors (18 and under)  from mixed households. Users must pre-book and pre-pay – there are no walk-ins or bookings “on the day”. Booking requests can be made by email or telephone. Please note the centre is not open 24/7 so please be prepared to use the answering machine where necessary.

  • For this period, the centre will be open:
    • Monday 12th April 9am – 8pm
    • Tuesday 13th  April Closed
    • Wednesday 14th  9am – 8pm
    • Thursday 15th April Closed
    • Friday 16th April 9am-8pm
    • Saturday 17th April 2-5pm
    • Sunday 18th April 3-6pm

Note that from 12th April racket restringing will be available. Please use the form https://www.tynesidebadmintoncentre.co.uk/racket-maintenance/ and we will contact you to arrange drop off and pick up.

 19th April – 16th May

 The centre is open for adults from the same household, and juniors (18 and under) from mixed households. Users must pre-book and pre-pay – there are no walk-ins or bookings “on the day”. Booking requests can be made by email or telephone. Please note the centre is not open 24/7 so please be prepared to use the answering machine where necessary.

  • For this period, the centre will be open:
    • Monday  5pm – 8pm
    • Tuesday Closed
    • Wednesday  5pm – 8pm
    • Thursday Closed
    • Friday 5pm-8pm
    • Saturday 2-5pm
    • Sunday 3-6pm

17th May – 20th June

The centre is open for adults in groups of 6 or less (mixed households permitted) and juniors (18 and under) from mixed households. Users must pre-book and pre-pay – there are no walk-ins or bookings “on the day”

  • Centre opening hours to be confirmed

21st June onwards

No restrictions on bookings
