Following the changes relating to Covid-19 regulations in the North East of England, please find below the new operating procedures for the Tyneside Badminton Centre which will commence on Wednesday 07/10/20.

Open to who?

Until further notice, play at the Tyneside Badminton Centre will be limited to:

– Adult groups or adult/junior combinations from the same household, maximum of 6 per court

– Groups of players 18 years of age or under (mixed households permitted), maximum of 6 per court

– Coaching either 1 to 1 or in small groups of juniors (mixed households permitted) or adults (same household only)

In order to follow the law, Tyneside Badminton Centre reserves the right to refuse entry to groups unable to provide proof of the above when requested

We are currently unable to take bookings from students living in halls of residence

Spectating is not permitted.

Open when?

For operational reasons we are currently only able to open on a limited basis as follows:

– Monday 5:00pm to 10:00pm

Tuesday 27th October only 9.00am to 5:00pm

– Wednesday 5:00pm to 10:00pm

Thursday 29th October only 9.00am to 5:00pm

– Friday 5:00pm to 8:00pm

– Saturday 2:00pm to 5:00pm

– Sunday 4:00pm to 7:00pm

How to book


Booking by email (enquiries@tynesidebadmintoncentre.co.uk) and telephone 0191 2415385 (24 hours notice minimum required). Please provide the names of all players, time to be booked, number of courts and a contact telephone number. We will ring back to confirm availability and take payment. Please note if you ring outside the above opening hours you will get an answering machine – leave a message. We cannot take bookings on the day or provide a “walk in” service for non-bookers.

A reminder of our complete procedures

 
Before you arrive

– All sessions at the centre must be pre-booked and paid for prior to entry. This is to minimize time spent at reception, control overall numbers, manage court areas and allow staff to plan additional cleaning work in advance.

– Do NOT come to the centre if you have:

– a high temperature

– a new or continuous cough

– a loss of, or change to your sense of smell or taste

– check the NHS website to see if you are at heightened risk from contracting Covid-19. Use this information to inform your decision to attend the centre or not

– Come changed and wearing non-marking shoes

– Bring your own full water/drinks bottle

What we offer

– Court bookings for a maximum of 6 players per court, all players from the same household

– Court bookings for a maximum of 6 players per court, all players 18 or under (mixed households allowed)

– Coaching either 1 to 1 or in small groups of juniors (mixed households permitted) or adults (same household only)

– Table tennis singles for players from the same household or players 18 years and under from mixed households

– Toilet facilities

– Restringing on a 7 day turn-around basis, booked in online

– Sanitised non-marking shoes to borrow (no charge for this service)

What we don’t offer

Hire of equipment (e.g. rackets, shuttles)

Changing/showering facilities

Vending/catering

Cash transactions

Spectating, with the exception of where there is an issue of safeguarding

Booking procedures

During your visit

Please only enter the building via reception close to your booking time

Familiarise yourselves with our COVID-19 procedures available at reception

Make us of the Covid-19 Track and Trace app (QR code available at reception)

Maintain social distance of 2 meters throughout your stay

Wash or sanitise your hands before entering the building

Do not loiter in reception

Obey the one way system – reception – sports hall – designated sports hall exit

Stay in your designated court/seating area throughout your stay (no swapping courts)

Place all discarded shuttles in the bins provided

Avoid physical contact e.g. shaking hands

Wipe down any seating you have used with the equipment provided by the centre

When leaving

Leave as soon as possible at the end of your booking time via the designated sports hall exit
